Bluetooth Earphones - Daily Object :
The object I have selected is my Bluetooth Earphones, which I use everyday, whether it be to watch a video or movie or listen to music or take calls.
I’ve used these since the past few years, as they are convenient with their connecting and the hands free experience they offer. They also include a good quality microphone useful for meetings and calls.
The main part of these earphones is the wireless connection provided by Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology standard that is used for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances and building personal area networks (PANs). It employs ultra-high-frequency radio waves It is mainly used as an alternative to wire connections, to exchange files between nearby portable devices and connect cell phones and music players with wireless headphones. Working in the mobile phone division of Ericsson in the mid-1990s, Dutch engineer Jaap Haartsen found a revolutionary way to connect electronic gadgets to each other at short range without the use of cables, using a variety of low-power radio frequencies. Bluetooth is a big part of that wireless revolution.
Bluetooth : A Timeline -
1994: The Invention of Bluetooth, by Dr. Jaap Haartsen was tasked with finding short-range radio connections. Working at Ericsson’s Mobile Terminal Division, the company wanted to find a way to enrich the functionality of mobile phones at the time.
At the time, Kardach had been reading about Viking kings, and was particularly enthralled by Harald Gormsson. Harald was nicknamed “Bluetooth” because he was said to have a rotting front tooth that took on a bluish color.
1999: The First Bluetooth Device - The first ever consumer Bluetooth device was a hands-free mobile headset that launched in 1999. That same year, the first Bluetooth specification, 1.0, was launched alongside, allowing for release of many other wireless devices.
2017 & now : Bluetooth launched its most recent update. Now Bluetooth 5.0, the protocol has improved a number of its core features to better adapt to modern technology. Namely, Bluetooth 5.0 extends the range up to 240 meters, improves compression speeds by double, and multiplies the broadcasting message capacity by eight when compared to just the previous version, Bluetooth 4.2.
Why is it popular? -
The most obvious advantage of Bluetooth is that it is wireless. You no longer have to deal with cables that get in the way. In addition Bluetooth is also very easy to use. The system is automatic, so you don't have to do much to connect devices, just turn it on.
Who Owns Bluetooth Now? -
Who Owns Bluetooth Now? -
No one "owns" Bluetooth, but its use and advancement is managed by an entity. To ensure Bluetooth became a universal communications protocol, in 1998 a group of companies came together to form the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), a not-for-profit group.
What is the Bluetooth Logo's & Names' "message"? -
The Bluetooth logo is also hiding a secret. It turns out the design actually contains two letters, rather than just a slightly insect-like B. What you're actually looking at is a superimposition of the Nordic runes for the letters H and B (below), for 'Harald Bluetooth'
Some Advantages/Disadvantages of the Bluetooth Technology -
According to one of the engineers behind the development of Bluetooth, the name belongs to a Viking-era king with a bad tooth. And not only that, but like many of the best logos of all time, the icon is hiding a secret message. Engineers Sven Mattisson & Jim Kardach "talked at length" about Vikings, including the king of Denmark, Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson – a name said to refer to his dead tooth.

Advantages
The Bluetooth connection allows us to listen to connected devices over a short distance, and control the device to some extent.
It is convenient as wires can create hassles.
Bluetooth tech is implemented in almost all devices now a days, allowing use of earphones/headphones on the devices.
You have some control on the media playing, as you can pause or play the video or audio being played without touching the device.
Disadvantages
Audio shared on the earphones may be delayed in some cases.
Bluetooth devices need to be charged over time.
They may eat up battery life of your device if it is on a low charge.
Earphones - History.
Headphones are a pair of small loudspeaker drivers worn on or around the head over a user's ears. They are electroacoustic transducers, which convert an electrical signal to a corresponding sound. Headphones let a single user listen to an audio source privately, in contrast to a loudspeaker, which emits sound into the open air for anyone nearby to hear. Headphones are also known as earspeakers and earphones. French engineer Ernest Mercadier patented a set of in-ear headphones in 1891. n 1958, John C. Koss, an audiophile and jazz musician from Milwaukee, produced the first stereo headphones.
As we grow more technologically advanced, we prefer wireless devices as mainly they are easier to connect to our devices and allow control.
Personal Likes of the Device :
Turn On/Off feature – The earphones turn on/off when the magnets in the ends are joined or pulled apart. It reduces the effort of clicking a button, as we would anyways the ends of an earphone to wear them.
The Buttons – The earphones have a Pause/Play button and a Volume Increase/Decrease button, which are wildly convenient when we need to pause/play or increase/decrease the volume of the media consumed, in a hurry.
Comfort – The ear cups are rubber and are somewhat water resistant. The design of the entire device to rest on our shoulders is great as it keeps us aware that the earphones are worn.
Personal Dislikes of the Device :
Microphone on PC – The Microphone provided in the device is great, but does not work while used on PC.
The Build – The build quality is good but, when kept in a tight space the rubber body stretches and breaks. After carrying the earphones in my pocket since the start of College, the rubber cover is slowly coming off, being torn.
