Why I chose hair ties?

~I chose hair tie as my daily object   because I use it from the day to day   time.

How and where was it found?

~Ancient Greece showed women   wearing ponytails. However,it was the   pre-17th century men of the Manchu   people in Northern China that seem to   have brought the ponytail mainstream.   They grew their hair long on top of   their  heads, and slightly shaved the   front. The long hair wad often braided   and called a"queue" which is the   French  word for "tail". Later, the   Manchu people forced the Han Chinese   men and women, who traditionally   wore their hair in bus, to take on the   style as well. In fact, not wearing a   ponytail became a punishable offense.

Who invented or secured?

~Men used ribbons, fabric or leather and a pin to pull air back. It was in 1820,however that Thomas Hancock obtained the first patent for the use of elastic in things like shoes and fasteners. Then, in 1845,British businessman, Stephen Perry, secured the patent for rubber band.

How was invented?

~The beginning of headbands was no   later than around 475BC to 330BC,with   the ancient Greeks, who wore hair   wreaths.

~The early to mid 19th century and the   modernisation of the rubber industry   allowed for use of rubber in   clothing, which would ultimately   include   early elastic hair ties.

What are its uses?

~A hair tie  is an item used to fasten   hair, particularly long hair, away from   areas such as the face. This is usually   done as part of a hairstyle such as   pigtails, bunches, or ponytails for   straight, wavy, and loosely curled hair,   and referred to as afro puffs, bunny tail, and "pineapples" for highly curled and highly textured natural hair. Two common types of hair tie are the scrunchie and the elastic. The term can also include a fixed tie or rubber band which is placed through or around strands to hold specific parts of hair together, rather than tie it or clasp together like a hair clip.
