THE HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF WALL
CLOCKS.
# How did we tell time before clocks?
Before modern clocks existed, people in ancient civilizations had to
mainly rely on natural factors to inform the time. These time elements
include the sun, moon, stars, and to a greater extent, the seasons. the
primary clocks were ghost clocks invented by the Egyptians. The
Egyptians used fortress towers, built around 3500 BC. to inform the
time supported the sun's shadow on the bottom below them. They also
used sundials, which were later adopted by the Greeks. The oldest
known sundial was found in Egypt and dated to about 1500 BC. The
sundial also measures time through the trail of the shadow cast by the
sun. There are two main flaws of ghost clocks: one; they become
practically useless at midnight or in overcast weather. Their; they
cannot be kept reception. Originally invented by the Egyptians around
1400 BC. ADVERTISEMENT Clepsydra was later adapted to the device by
the Greeks. The meter consists of “two reservoirs of water, one beyond
the opposite.
Water flows from the upper container to the lower container through a
hose connecting the containers. The vessels have water level indication,
and time indication". These water meters sometimes include a dipstick
that rises to show the hands on an accompanying watch face. Around
250 BC. J.-C., the Greeks introduced a mechanism during which the
water rose and "eventually struck a mechanical bird, causing an alarm
screech".
Candle clocks are recorded as early as 520 AD in China. The candle clock
is going to be marked with a line for every hour, and therefore the
molten candle will measure the number of hours that have elapsed
when it burned. Hourglasses are incredibly accurate because of the
flow of sand grains con to the water. Since about the 15th century,
watch glasses are commonly used puzzled as the way for sailors to
inform the time. Watch glasses are an old invention but have a timeless
value, you may even have one in your kitchen nowadays.
The first mechanical watches in Europe were invented by Christian
monks. The important role of monks is to call others to prayer, so time
is important. the primary known mechanical watch in Europe was made
in 996 by a monk who later became Pope Sylvester II.
Grandfather clocks and other pendulum clocks were very expensive
from the 17th to mid-18th centuries and were reserved for members of
the house and also the upper crust. At the time of industrialization,
watches were easier to manufacture and more accessible to middle-
class families within the late 18th and 19th centuries, and immigration
brought these watches to Europe. America. During the 19th century,
pendulum wall clocks and floor or old man clocks changed in design,
leading to cuckoo clocks and hairsprings, but the timing mechanism
remained until when a brand-new invention in 1927 changed the way
we see time forever.
Atomic clock:
Even more precise than quartz is a timepiece. Measuring the
oscillations of atoms to inform time instead of using quartz, the
timepiece is so accurate that its “an error of just one second in 100
million years”. Atomic clocks were invented in 1949 and today there are
400 atomic clocks within the world. Atomic clocks are mainly used for
scientific purposes, like GPS and satellites, instead of to inform the daily
time. because of the limited number of atomic clocks and therefore the
undeniable fact that they take up almost the whole room, its going to
take your time before you will install one on your fireplace.
Modern and Battery-Powered Clocks:
Today, many wall clocks are battery-operated. Battery powered
watches and watches are generally more economical than quartz
watches, however, quartz watches are even more accurate when it
involves keeping time. Battery operated watches and clocks have an
accuracy of about 1 minute annually.
If you're willing to require a moment to avoid wasting money, then a
battery-powered watch is for you. Quartz and battery-powered
watches are often found during a type of styles to match the design of
any interior. The clock is not only a practical item, but its also seen as a
decoration. Wall clocks carry the meaning of permanence; its always
within the same place, it cannot be lost and its not necessary to reload
it. It also keeps you from observing your phone unnecessarily and
causing unwanted distractions. We hope that after reading the
interesting history of watches, you may consider bringing this timeless
technology into your home.
ACTUAL OBJECT’S REAL IMAGE:
MY PERSPECTIVE:
It depends on the vastu the placement of the wall clock. Many
people prefer to keep their clock in north direction, because as
per our ancestor’s beliefs that the north side has the positive
impact on our life. It also helps us to see time at a glance as we
do not need to turn on our phones every time and it also helps
aged people as they do not know how to operate smart phones
and smart watches. its designing want it will suit on which wall what pattern it will suit and texture, color, material and shape should be used for a wall clock in generation i think we not gone have more watch as per technology we will be used in total digital world so i think their may be chance of reduction of wall clock . their may be case in future where some people who like watch may keep them as their showpiece . so i think watch may have some of its old feature like metrial and then in a total in a digital way.
